Book of the month to get you reading again

In a society where we are constantly meeting up with people and going to places, the blueprint of humanity can easily be forgotten. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t there anymore. One of those blueprints ( aka. books) that has made me stop for a moment is ‘The Alchemist’.

“Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people should lead their lives, but none about his or her own.”

In essence, the book is about a young shepherd who sets his foot outside all he has ever known – leaving the warmth of his flock and hometown. Alongside the journey, you’re taken into the depths of discovery and feeling of freedom. The book is quite similar to ‘The Little Prince’. The book left me feeling as if I came across a random stranger who was a story teller.

The book can be finished in a few hours, it’s not like The Lord of the Rings novel or a 2 page short story. After selling millions of copies and being translated in over 70 languages, it is a timeless classic to remember. However, you as a reader can perceive it in many ways. Is it merely a fantasy self help book that does not relate to todays society? A book just to kill time? Or is it going to be a book that sparks you to become an alchemist?

However you’ll either feel liberated and inspired, or even more cynical of magic.
